The short answer
Notion's paid plans are billed per member: Plus at $12 and Business at $24 per member per month, billed monthly. Pay for a year up front and those drop to $10 and $20, the rates notion.com/pricing shows by default under its “Pay yearly” toggle. There's a free plan aimed at individuals, and an Enterprise tier with custom pricing. Notion's AI features live on Business, with agent usage priced separately in credits.
At common team sizes on Plus, the first paid team tier, billed monthly: a 5-person team pays $60/month, a 10-person team pays $120/month, and a 20-person team pays $240/month. On Business, the tier the AI pitch points teams at, those numbers are $120, $240, and $480.

The advertised price isn't the monthly price
Notion's pricing page defaults to its “Pay yearly” toggle and labels the annual rates “per member / month”, so a reader skimming the page sees $10 (Plus) and $20 (Business) and reasonably takes them for the monthly price. They're not: those are the annual-billing rates, what each month costs when you pay for a year up front. Pay month-to-month and the prices are $12 and $24 per member. You have to flip the toggle to “Pay monthly” to see them.
The banner says yearly billing saves up to 20%. The derived gap is about 17% on Plus and 17% on Business. Put differently: a 10-person team on Plus pays $120/month billed monthly, or $100/month billed annually, a $20/month difference for committing to the year up front.
Showing the annual rate first is standard practice. For a month-to-month budget, use the monthly figure; use the annual figure only when you are ready to pay for twelve months.
What Notion AI adds to the bill
Notion now pitches Business as “The AI workspace”: Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, and Enterprise Search are bundled into the Business tier rather than sold as a flat add-on. That has a quiet pricing consequence: the AI features the marketing leads with aren't on the $12 Plus tier. A team that wants what's advertised is really shopping at $24 per member per month billed monthly ($20 annually): $240/month for 10 people, $480/month for 20.
Agent usage is metered on top. Beyond what a plan includes, Notion prices agent work in credits at $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits, after a free trial. Usage beyond the included credits adds a separate line to the per-member bill.
This is a pricing observation, not a feature comparison. Thicket has no AI features and this post makes no claim about the value of Notion's, only about where they sit on the bill: on the higher tier, with a metered component on top.
The free plan is for individuals; Plus is the first paid team tier
Notion's free plan is built around individual use. In a team workspace, its collaboration limits make Plus the first paid tier to compare: Plus at $12 per member per month billed monthly ($10 annually).
That's worth knowing before you budget “we'll just use the free plan”: a 5-person team on Plus is $60/month when billed monthly. And if the AI features are part of why you're choosing Notion, the first plan to budget is Business at $120/month for the same five people.

Is Notion worth it?
For the right team, yes. If your team lives in documents and structured knowledge (a company wiki, linked databases with relations and rollups, custom views over content), Notion is a strong fit. The per-member price buys relational databases, linked views, and a flexible wiki system. Wiki-centric teams and heavy database users are the clearest fit.
The catch is that the per-member and credits math is the cost of that flexibility, whether or not you use it. Someone has to design and maintain the databases, views, and templates you're paying for. A project in Notion is a database and set of views your team builds, while Thicket starts each project with a fixed set of tools. The AI bundle makes $24/member the relevant rate for teams that want those features. If your team mainly needs tasks, deadlines, messages, and a schedule, compare Notion's flexibility with the setup work and ongoing per-member cost.
