Timesheets

Project time tracking with weekly timesheets

Log hours on a project and on its to-dos, messages, docs, files, cards and events. Each person fills in their week on one grid, and the Timesheets report adds up the hours by project.

On every plan, Free included. Paid plans from $25/month.

Free plan. No card required. Includes a 30-day Pro trial.

My Timesheet for one week: the week's dates with the 13.75 hours total at the right, then each project heading its rows with its week total, rows such as No item, Event and Message with hours under each day, Add a row, the Absence rows, and the totals for each day and the week
My Timesheet in a seeded demo account: a row for each thing the person logged time on, grouped by project, their time off below, and totals for each day and the week.
The Track time spent on this to-do panel open under a to-do's 13.50 hr badge: a row for the date, hours, person and notes with an Add button, the to-do's newest entries below, and a link to its full timesheet

The badge for logging hours on the work

Turn on Timesheet in a project's settings, and a ⏱ badge with the hours so far appears on the project and on each of its to-dos, messages, docs, files, cards and events. Click it, pick the day, type 1.5 or 1:30, add a note if you like, and the hours are logged on that item.

A project's timesheet: a row for logging time, then entries newest first with the date, hours, person, the to-do, card or event each is on, and its note, with a pencil and trash can on each and Download CSV at the top right

Project timesheets for every hour in a project

A project's timesheet lists every entry, newest first, with who logged it, what it was on and the note, and the project's total at the bottom. Fix an entry with its pencil. Everyone can change their own entries, and owners and admins can change anyone's.

The Timesheets report: the filters For Everyone on All projects from a date range, a Filter box, a 435 hours total pill and Download CSV, then one project's entries

The Timesheets report for totals across projects

Choose a person, a project and a date range, and the report adds up the hours for each project, with time off in its own group. Download CSV saves the same entries as a spreadsheet file, one row each, with the date, person, hours, project, item and notes.

The Approvals page: a week waiting from an earlier period, then one week with a summary line and a row per person showing their hours and a status of Submitted, Rejected with the reason, Changed, Approved or Not submitted, with Approve, Reject and View buttons

Weekly approvals for weeks that need a sign-off

Turn on approvals and each person submits their week. An owner or admin approves it, or rejects it with a reason, which reaches the person as a notification and an email. Hours stay editable: a change to an approved week is flagged for review instead of locked.

Time off, privacy, setup and the CSV

Time off on the same grid

Rows for Vacation, Sick leave, Bereavement and Statutory holiday to start. Admins rename, reorder and add types. Only the person, owners and admins see time off.

Hours stay with your team

Clients you invite to a project never see a ⏱ badge, a timesheet, the report or anyone's hours.

Set up in one place

Admin › Timesheets turns Timesheet on in several projects at once, sets the day each week starts, manages the time off types, and turns approvals on or off.

Filled in from the keyboard

Tab moves to the next day, Enter to the same day in the next row, and Shift+Enter opens a note. Each cell saves when you leave it.

One day at a time on a phone

In a phone's browser, My Timesheet shows one day at a time, with that day's rows under their projects and the week's total at the bottom.

A CSV of every entry

A project's timesheet, an item's timesheet and the report each download their entries as a CSV file, with a Status column while approvals are on.

Questions about Timesheets

Does Thicket have time tracking?

Yes. With Timesheet on in a project, your team logs hours on the project and on its to-dos, messages, docs, files, cards and events, fills in a weekly timesheet on My Timesheet, and sees the totals in the Timesheets report, which downloads as a CSV. Timesheets are included on every plan.

How do people enter their hours?

They type them, as a decimal like 1.5 or as hours and minutes like 1:30, from a ⏱ badge or in a cell on My Timesheet. Each cell saves when you leave it.

Can clients see our hours?

No. Timesheets are for your team only. Clients you invite to a project never see a badge, a timesheet, the report or anyone's hours.

Can we get the hours into a spreadsheet?

Yes. A project's timesheet, an item's timesheet and the Timesheets report each have Download CSV, with one row per entry: the date, person, hours, project, item and notes.

Do weeks have to be approved?

Only if you want them to be. Approvals are off to start. When an owner or admin turns them on in Admin › Timesheets, each person submits their week and an owner or admin approves it or rejects it with a reason.

Can people log time off?

Yes. My Timesheet has rows for Vacation, Sick leave, Bereavement and Statutory holiday to start, and admins can add their own types. Only the person, owners and admins see time off.
