Features
Group Chat and Direct Messages
Group chat rooms for projects and private direct messages.
Chat in Thicket
Thicket has two kinds of chat: a group chat room in each project, and direct messages for private conversations.
Project Chat
Every project can have its own chat room — a casual space for the people on the project:
- Open a project with Chat enabled
- Click the Chat tab
- Type your message and press Enter to send
Direct Messages
Direct messages are private conversations outside of any project:
- Start a chat with one person, or with several people at once
- Direct messages are visible only to their participants
- You can message admins, owners, and anyone you share a project with
Chat Features
- Mentions — type @ followed by a name to mention someone and send them a notification
- Links — URLs become clickable links
- Formatting — add basic rich text to your messages
When to Use Chat vs Messages
- Chat — quick questions, casual conversation, day-to-day coordination
- Messages — important announcements, detailed updates, decisions that need to be referenced later
Chat is great for the day-to-day, while Message Boards are better for things that need to be found later.
