What Is Group Chat?
Group Chat in Thicket provides real-time messaging for your team. Each project can have its own chat room, plus you can create organization-wide chat channels.
Accessing Chat
- Project chat — open a project and click the Chat tab
- Organization chats — click Chats in the sidebar to see all chat rooms
Sending Messages
- Open a chat room
- Type your message in the input field at the bottom
- Press Enter to send
Chat Features
- Real-time messaging — messages appear instantly for all participants
- Rich text — use markdown formatting in your messages
- Mentions — type @ followed by a name to mention someone and send them a notification
- Links — URLs are automatically converted to clickable links
- Emoji — use emoji to react and express yourself
Creating Chat Rooms
- Go to Chats in the sidebar
- Click New Chat
- Give the chat room a name
- Add members or make it open to the whole organization
When to Use Chat vs Messages
- Chat — quick questions, casual conversation, real-time coordination
- Messages — important announcements, detailed updates, decisions that need to be referenced later
Chat is great for the day-to-day, while Message Boards are better for things that need to be found later.
